  Hi Paul:  Just had to say "Hi!" and offer a huge "Thank you!" for your beautifully assembled Tribute to Anthony Jackson. You sound FAN-TAS-TIC in each of the little clips that you presented. Amazing!!! I'm so pleased that you chose to present "Auxiliary Police" to your fans and listeners - and students. It's so hard to know just what to say about that piece of music and Anthony's performance within it - within that very simple harmonic context. I don't know that if you and I had been able to sit in a room with him if we would have been able to unearth a true 'answer' to the question: "How on earth does someone, anyone hear things like that?" Maybe he doesn't even know himself? Anyway, what you did is wonderful and perpetuates a great legacy of highly creative bass playing!!! Wishing you the best of everything always..... Steve ☮❤🌼

  I was lucky enough to have recorded a few times with Anthony. The first time I was on a date, covering for Elliott Randall, it was a little over my head, and I got sent home. I was very young and standing by the elevator, basically almost crying, I felt like my career was over. He came over and said, "I think the contractor was being unfair to you, you were getting the part (it was a very tough guitar part, and the session was direct to stereo!!), and I think you're a very good guitar player. You just learned a lesson today." In later years, I worked with him a few times, and I've never forgotten that he did that. I mean, this guy was already a legend, and I was just starting out. But that's how he was. And he always remembered my name, and we were sort of friends. Sadly, he was so ill at the end, and all I can say is RIP.

  Once in a lifetime musician and human being. I had the privilege of spending some time with AJ many years ago and it was life altering. There will never be another like him. Mentioning Easy Pieces is legit, not many know of that record and I’m glad I bought the CD when I saw it 30 years ago!
