The transformation in balance is incredible! But also it’s a more efficient building. More fresh air for the hoods, more conditioned air for the dining spaces, more comfortable environment. This was awesome.

Trial and error is the right option for this scenario. The "mouth of the horse". Hands-on. So many unknowns, so you're going to need to tinker with the system to get this right. Great job!

Chris, You never need to apologize for the quality work you do! You are way more of a technician than 95% of the guys in the field are. Engineers would never be willing to get their hands that dirty. Your forethought on how and what you'll do to proceed on these jobs impresses me!

Hint: Each exhaust and supply air manufacturers have data sheets that list the CFM based on RPM of the wheel. It's a good starting point. Additionally, each piece of equipment has CFM/velocity requirements that must be met for safety.

If they call an engineer to calculate anything new the restaurant can close 🤣

Your "dumb logic" is what I call uncommon cense. It's the difference between the people looking at a computer or book to make decisions and the guy on the roof telling them "thats not working or that shit ain't gonna work. Can I do this instead?"

This a great video Chris. I take care of a restaurant in Virginia Beach, Virginia and they’ve had negative pressure issues for quite some time too. And with them as well, nothing is original. Things have been changed god knows how many times so calling an air balance company won’t do me much good. But this is pointing me in the right direction of possible solutions I can pitch to the customer. I know like you’ve said this is not a tutorial and you’re no expert on the matter but you seem to have corrected the problem. I will certainly apply some of your tactics to my customers restaurant if they allow and will comment back on this video if I have positive results! Been a while since I’ve watched your videos but I remember why i subscribed in the first place. Awesome job man, you have no idea how much I’ve learned from watching your videos, it’s truly appreciated! Keep up the good work 🤘

I find air balancing fascinating. I work at a movie theater that has 10 projector exhausts, big restroom exhaust, closet exhaust, hallway draw-thru exhaust, and elec room exhaust. It ran really negative for a number of years because they haven't been fixing economizers that allowed for some make-up. The big lobby RTU is essentially always actively cooling or heating so I set the min damper for like 15-20% and wouldn't you know it, things got a lot more comfortable without cold/hot air billowing through the ticket window pass thrus in box office, the heavy doors were easier to open, etc.

Awesome job Chris, I’ve been following you for YEARS and honestly you have been my main source of how I’ve learned hvac. I’m currently in college on my way to med school (just finished my MCATS and working on applications) and I’ve always tickled in hvac as a hobby to keep me busy, at one point doing commercial mechanical maintenance for my college. Just wanted to say thank you for all the time you put into these videos and to pay back for all that you have taught me as well as the future technicians in this world! Keep up the amazing work. (also there wouldn’t have been anything different that I would have done, your big picture diagnosis is just as thorough as it was on day one of your videos)
