  Some important info about the 1955 Le Mans race, the Jaguar that caused the crash was driven by Mike Hawthorn (1958 F1 champion) who had a tendency of doing dangerous things on and off track (which ends in tragedy for him in the end), the teammate Pierre Levegh showed the hand-signal to behind him was none other than &quot;El Maestro&quot; Juan Manuel Fangio who always maintained, that last moment signal from Levegh saved his life otherwise he wouldn&apos;t have slowed down on the straight. Fangio was also teamed with the great Sir Stirling Moss in that race. John Fitch, Levegh&apos;s teammate was greatly affected by his passing, and devoted his time to improving safety in motorsport, road infrastructure, and automobiles. <br><br>And an interesting fact about Pierre Levegh, he almost won the 1952 Le Mans single handedly driving a Talbot when he drove the whole race by himself, ending in the final hour when he suffered engine failure while he was leading by 4 laps.
