  You can fix the wallet for the calculator. Use a bit of greaseproof paper on the side of the ripped seam. Run your soldering iron down the seam and it'll 'weld' the plastic back together. The greaseproof will stop your soldering iron sticking to the plastic.

  that plastic melting on the sleeve worked out perfectly, this definite should add atleast 10 bonus days on the non-plastic-melt counter.

  I can help you with a future repair if you ever need to replace this kind of carbon pad. You just need a few drops of clear nail polish mixed with graphite powder — the kind used as a lubricant. Then, apply it to the pads.<br>I’ve successfully fixed controller drift in potentiometers this way, as well as some membrane keyboards and TV remote controls. It lasts for years.

  I had one of those! As someone with dyscalculia and struggled with maths at school in the 80’s, this was great as I could hide it my pocket and the palm of my hand. Don’t worry, I didn’t use it to cheat as I was never good enough to even do a maths CSE, I just used it to not feel so stupid in class
