  As an artist, I think I can add another layer to this. When a face has perfect vertical symmetry, we don't register it as a real face because real faces just aren't that perfectly symetrical. Because of this, they can fall into the uncanny valley. They make you uncomfortable. When I draw a person in front-facing perspective, I'll use the symmetry tool but I'll always go back in and liquify or redraw some of the features to break the symmetry and make them less creepy and lifeless. The uncanny valley plays a huge part in this because our brains register symetrical faces as unnaturally perfect. Plus, asymetry can make things more interesting and therefor more memorable. I'm no scientist or mathematician though, so take this with a grain of salt. (Side note- I already love this new channel. It's a really creative and cool idea)

  I actually believe the reason the Team Theorist faces ranked so highly overall is because we are used to these faces, honestly an interesting result that could make for a great episode to talk about seeing something more often improving it’s look

  I watched this last night and it made me feel more confident. I was hanging out with my friend today and she started using the filter and was upset her face was not symmetrical. I showed her this video and she said she felt better about how she looked. MatPat out here single handed increasing the confidence of teenage girls 👏

  Learning that Mark doesn't pass the test is definitely a confidence booster. If the sexiest man on the Internet doesn't pass then maybe these tests aren't so important after all.

  Even as a face blind person, the perfectly symmetrical faces are super uncanny valley.

  The biggest problem with that symmetrical face flip filter is that the shadows on the face aren't corrected and make it feel artificial and enters uncanny valley territory.

  I love how everyone taking the survey ranked Team Theorist high. Even though we are all strangers, how much we have seen everyone's face make the Team feel more familiar, almost like friends. No one is going to call their friend unattractive to their face.

  As soon as I saw the official name announcement for this channel, it all started to make sense.<br>The Theory Team has been putting a lot of love and thought into their Clothing Merchandise for years.<br>I truly hope this channel grows and produces excellent content like all the others!

  In art, asymmetry is often a desired trait, as long as it&apos;s with purpose. If you have a symmetrical piece, it&apos;s boring, it&apos;s simple, it&apos;s quick to analyze and quick to throw into the bin.<br>However, asymmetrical pieces leave you thinking, they cause your brain to go into overdrive as your eyes wander the entire canvas. Why? Because like Aerosmith, you &quot;don&apos;t wanna miss a thing.&quot; You check every Tom Nook and cranny and try to understand everything about it. It&apos;s like a scavenger hunt or a &quot;Where&apos;s Waldo?&quot; In some cases, you find yourself asking &quot;why?&quot; and in others, like certain precarious sculptures, you ask yourself &quot;how?&quot; It&apos;s like Matt&apos;s older FNAF videos mention. You keep going back looking for more, but when you figure out all of the answers, your brain discards it as no longer necessary. It&apos;s complete, it&apos;s finished, but by not answering every question, it stays in the back of your mind. That&apos;s why pieces like &quot;Mona Lisa&quot; are so memorable, not because of the portrait itself, but because of the mysteries surrounding it. Seriously, in reading the name &quot;Mona Lisa,&quot; you can&apos;t tell me a silhouette of the painting didn&apos;t just pop up in your mind... Right? Only me? Well, I&apos;m weird.
