  FYI that wood that’s 150 years old isn’t the wood you buy today. That’s old growth wood with tight tree rings. Today’s wood the tree rings are barely existent.

  This is using mason&apos;s lime, hydrated lime, and not the ground dolomite for garden pH adjustment. Do not use garden lime!

  I worked for a reproduction furniture shop that hand built furniture. We also offered repair, restore, and refinish svcs. I stripped all the work that came in for refinishing. Milk paint finishes DID NOT STRIP OFF, even using industrial Methylene chloride stripper. &nbsp;We stopped offering to strip milk painted items.

  Hydrated lime is NOT horticultural lime, and you will NOT find it in the &nbsp;gardening section of your home improvement store. &nbsp;It is also called slaked lime and is in the masonry section.

  I live in Pennsylvania and every Amish family i know in the Lancaster area do not use Garden Lime… they all use Masonry Lime! Big difference 🤷🏻‍♂️ and key on longevity
