I love that people are still running jet boats!

Yup, Glenwood marine used to have a fantastic catalogue. It had things like pullys for alternator, set ups, etc. water pumps, etc. sadly, we all get older in places so out or go out of business or break up into other people buying them out. I’m very impressed with everything you’re doing, Mike. You are truly a rockstar contributing to the drag boat club and industry. Yeah, I say the boats are cooler than cars because you get to display custom paint jobs, post aluminum, and chrome all over the place and some of the biggest horsepower and displacement in the public domain. They just rock. Anybody that’s ever been to a race and got to walk up and talk to some of the mechanics or drivers and interact and ask questions for their own Lake boats, etc. will tell you drag boating in Lake boating is the greatest. I still remember the day Eddie Hill came to Columbiaville Michigan. I had some great pictures, but I think they all got burned up in my house fire unless they were stored in one of my camper trailers. I keep finding things I thought was destroyed. But many of the boats I took pictures of for their set ups and their killer paint jobs in candy, apples, and pearls. They are just awesome. I think Eddie ran about 220 that day in his Texan blown fuel, Hydro and that was back before everybody was getting F4 cockpits for safety.

The moral of the story is we need you to place the Caddy in the way of something else you want running. Gotcha

Mike, I used to work at Perkins diesel when it was in Farmington Hills and Wayne Michigan by Detroit. We used to have Stuart Warner or Perkins gauge panels
. You should be able to get an old Stuart Warner manual oil pressure gauge that has an electronic switch
in it that it would’ve shut off your engine when you had that oil pressure dropped to 15 pounds you would run your power supply to your MSD to it and through the switch. That would give you a cheap insurance policy probably in theory your oil pressure dropped to zero or very minimal and then came back up when you were idling because what was left of the oil in the pan sloshed to being level. enough to draw air and oil into the pick up
. It’s also something because it reads manual. Technically, you should be able to see the oil pressure even while you’re cranking the engine. I just thought I’d mention this because I know you guys got a entire Mortgage invested in some of these drag boat Engines and you need every method of safety protection there is. Gauge like that might’ve had you scratching your head for a while saying well. What shut the Engine down but I believe you probably would’ve traced it down in less than a couple minutes. I just thought I’d mention this cause I know how bad it sucks to wait for pistons and all that stuff. I ordered some 409 pistons once from Jahns racing pistons basically JE for my 1966 Spico flat bottom V drive and it was the only place you could get them at the time I had to join a 409 club to even find that and they didn’t tell me of course they were on strike. I sent full payment in advance and I waited a year and a half for a set of pistons then as soon as they came, I ordered another set just to have extras. The world of Engine fun, but I still love it. I’m in Pennsylvania now, but I’d like to go back to northern Michigan within a couple years and have a small shop tinkering doing the same kind of things you’re doing except have a Dyno tuning Service. One time at Perkins I passed up a chance to get a free Clayborne water Dino for free. They ask if anybody wanted it because it had a water leak. It was just a seal if I would’ve had a garage to put it at the time I was pretty young. I would’ve gladly taken it cause I knew all the Engine testers they would’ve showed me how to work everything on it. The original Dyno set up at Perkins before they went to individual cells they could roll engines in on rails. They had about six Clayborne water dynos over the top of a grate floor with water underneath it and then you had a door going into the room and there might’ve been 4 to 6 engine testers in there then they went to similar something like what you would see on Nick’s garage where you’re rolling Engine in a room and put it in and it’s all soundproof and everything. Nick’s cool he’s got a lot of old school muscle cars I really like to watch. and because of his multiple camera set up and video Guys he probably got some of the nicest Dyno videos on the Internet, showing specs, etc. I’m trying to introduce him a little more to some of the drag Boat community for blower engines, etc.. I gotta admit, though I’ve watched you in Jared from West Coast River outlaws that does excellent video work and I think you guys are probably doing more for the sport and for Engine Building and all of it just by having great channels on YouTube I hope you’re getting all the support you need to keep it going strong. I laughed when I seen your garage is in the residential area the first night I fired up my 409 it was 11:30 PM. They had about about 10 gauges on the dashboard. I told my little brother hit the fuel pump switch soon as the pressure gauge come up. I said OK hit the key and I couldn’t believe that was the only Engine I ever built that was perfect right on the money from day one and it had the big Edelbrock M2 exhaust through the back and you seen every light in the neighborhood go on lol I seen you flash bite under the boat and looked at the prop and said holy cow this thing got like a 20% overdrive on it it’s going to fly. The boat came all the way from Bakersfield as I bought it from a friend that used to live there probably one of the Spico guys from Westco they have done the Engine in Boat before I did because somebody put an awful lot of money in that engine. It already had 12 1/2 to one slugs in it and a huge cam that was tore up and four broken pistons from Detonnation. Thank God for Ed Iskandarian man did he know his stuff I called out there and asked can you build me a big ass cam for this Engine? Well I just happen to have exactly what you need sitting on the shelf the complete solid lifter, roller cam kit and it was a bad boy. What was funny was I met another guy at Columbiaville Mi race from North Carolina. and he bought the only other one lol we live in a small world. I was never big on Isky cams until I owned one. I didn’t know much about them. but it truly was the Camp father. He had some kind of new invention for every single thing you could imagine and it was all about being bulletproof. my kind of guy.👍👍👍 I always tell people build as overkill as you can buy the very best you can afford and if you got something you really want you can’t afford it. Figure out a plan to save for it until you can. I think there was probably a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches back in them days lol but I’ve always loved anything to do with Boat racing. Anyways, I just thought I’d let you know about those gauges cause I’m sure they still make them. I have a regular one around here on a high-pressure hose. It’s on one of my tractors right now. I used to use it any time I built an engine for testing in my pumping up the oil pressure first.
