Apparently Benedict Arnold almost died at Saratoga. If he did, he would have gone down as one of the greatest heros in American history with statues erected everywhere and towns named in his honour.<br><br>You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain

After being captured he and many of his comrades decided to "turn-coat" and joined Washington's army. After the war he was given a land grant in what is now northeastern Tennessee and had twelve children.
