  Two important omissions: the Holy Roman Empire was not called that from the beginning. It was initially the “Roman Empire,” later “Holy Empire,” then “Holy Roman Empire,” and from 1512 “Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation.”<br><br>Also, Prussia’s origins are not explained. It grew out of the state of the Teutonic Knights, a medieval crusading military order comparable to the Templars, who conquered and developed the Prussian territories and founded cities such as Königsberg.<br><br>And Jan Hus was already calling for major Church reforms more than 100 years before Luther.

  A little correction. The Germanic tribes around 0 were not the ooga booga cave or forest people they are shown to have been in the video; depicted like folks from 100.000 BC. They had wealthy politics, culture, metalworking, trade, and excellent knowledge of warfare. Farming, including livestock and advanced agriculture, was the backbone of their societies. I know this is a rough sketch of the history, but I think it&apos;s important to not reinforce this stereotype over and over again. :D That aside, great video.

  why did you skip over the entire Crusades period where Germany helped hold back the invasion coming from the middle east through the ottoman empire?

  2,000 years in 32 minutes is wild 😂 Definitely a history marathon, but somehow still feels too short for Germany’s story.

  Watching the maps shift over 2,000 years really shows how recent a &apos;unified Germany&apos; actually is. 1871 is practically yesterday compared to everything before it. Awesome work!
