I loved when mr linen immediately clarified the difference between a wrinkle and a rumple. Louder for the people in the back!!!

My mother used to say, it’s ok to see the wrinkles (like the ones across your hips after sitting), because you know it’s real linen. She was an excellent seamstress and she viewed a 100% linen dress as a quality piece.

Agree with him on dressing for hot, humid weather. Having lived yr round in Florida for decades, I definitely am cooler wearing loose, long-sleeves tops and loose, long bottoms (like capri length pants and long, loose skirts). The more skin that’s exposed, the hotter and grimier I feel. It’s counter-intuitive but taking a cue from the hot, tropical areas of the world, this is how they dress.

I have converted my partner into a linen sheets person. The last fitted sheet that developed holes got turned into a shirt and a pair of pants. They’re gloriously soft.

I am watching this while wearing linen! My 'linen for starter' tip is to buy used linen shirt and wear it at home for lounging. Get yourself comfortable in it first and once you get the appeal, you can go from there!

I sew & came to linen from that angle. Especially from the title of the vid I was so surprised that it was solely about buying RTW pieces & not at all about linen production, history, weaves or any of the other things I consider when buying fabric. This isn’t a criticism necessarily since obvs not everyone sews but I did keep waiting for the titular expert to broach topics I want to know more about!!

In case anyone else here in the comments is like me, I do recommend shopping at Gray Lines in the NYC garment district. All their linen is from the Czech Republic & super high quality. Also their sheets are at least $100. less than all other brands I’ve looked at (sometimes a lot more!) & they always have 50% off remnants & seconds behind the counter. I make all my underlayers from their remnants because they’re small cuts & if there’s a stain or weave flaw no one sees it but me.

I camp out at my dryer, set the temp for towels and in about 2-3 minutes take out the linen. It’s basically steaming it. I then carefully shake and hang carefully.

So easy to hear this, your conversation is so clean, so on subject, no background noise/music, with so much interesting information. Thank you. ❤
