  peep how john said he wanted crayons, his mom knew he loved drawing therefore she sent him to art school. And john going to school / knack for drawing is one of the main reasons is constructs are so strong because he puts every single detail into everything he makes. Making him one of the most powerful lanterns ever

  Notice how the military guy was &quot;I got you a steak and a beer.&quot; &nbsp;John is a vegetarian who never drinks when he&apos;s on the job. &nbsp;&quot;They don&apos;t see us&quot; indeed.<br><br>The Guardian should have paid them with a sack of small gold nuggets. &nbsp;Those are easier to move bit by bit, and she could say a family member likes to pan for gold as a hobby.

  This is one of the best written episodes in the series in my opinion. Simply off the strength of how they illustrated the dynamics of being a black man trying to navigate all of this. Even with how they show his parents and they&apos;re difficulties with trying to raise him to be fearless. I kinda feel like his parents, mostly his Mom, are also villains in this whole story though. They have a sort of selflish ambition, even though it&apos;s was motivated by the Guardians. Maybe even manipulated by them. Still, I think they made some harmful choices. A young lady from a Nickelodeon show wrote this episode by the way.

  The writing is so good on this episode that I had to look them up. It&apos;s Vanessa Baden Kelly and Justin Britt-Gibson. They were interviewed by the Midnight Boys on YT. Totally worth watching but I&apos;d &nbsp;wait until after episode 7 so you aren&apos;t spoiled.

  It&apos;s interesting looking back on ep 1 on how even after the way Hal has been acting towards John, he says to Kerry that he does have respect for Hal. And the parents...I don&apos;t respect them. 😅 They pushed their dream onto John without regard if that&apos;s what he truly wanted to do with his life and was abusive and he barley had a relationship with his brothers. Thats why they said John may hate them growing up. I don&apos;t think he hates them per se but there&apos;s definitely issues there. And this episode was the lowest rated because alot of people took offense because it touched on race.
