Biggest complaint. They took no time with the mutts. No explanation, no resemblance to tributes, no physiological torture that it entails.

I remember when the movie was announced, I was so confused that Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta. I actually imagined Peeta closer to the Cato actor but after I saw it, I was like “….why was I mad again? Josh is my Peeta for life!”

Honestly, my biggest gripe with the movie is the little notes in the sponsor gifts. By being able to put notes in the gifts, Haymitch could just tell her what to do. In the book Katniss had to really understand Haymitch and what he was trying to tell her.

I also despise that they removed Peeta losing his leg at the end of the movie. It could have been mentioned and then he could just wear pants and it would have taken no effort to have that piece of disability rep as well as have that physical representation of everything they faced and lost.

Other than that, I actually think this is a great adaptation! Better than most, honestly.

I think things like the reaping hit harder when you know what's going to happen... because it's not open ended, you already know exactly what Katniss is going to have to go through AND you are already invested in the character like you noted.
