  Finally! I thought I was alone in having quirks like wanting to sit in the nose of a 747-400...and by that I mean the seat that has the front-most window. This is the sort of thing I used to dream about as a kid looking at the planes on the runway from airport windows.

  Cashed in my points and flew BA from Philadelphia to London in the nose of a 747.  Best and smoothest flight ever.

  When I was 9 years old, my dad, as a surprise, booked my mom and I on a new 747 flying from LAX to DTW. I remember the excitement &nbsp;when this huge, new jet pulled into the gate and I realized mom and I would fly home in a new 747. I recall the boarding process being a color coded affair depending on what section you sat in. We were in coach and I honestly thought the plane would never make it into the air. I still have the Richie Rich comic book and plastic wings the stewardess gave me. I was disappointed when my mom asked if I could see the upper deck and was told it was for 1st class only. We were invited to go to the rear cabin, that there was a lounge there as well. <br><br>I had to use the rest room and I was sent to the rear toilets. When I walked through the partition, I was very surprised. There was a large lounge with white molded club chairs, end tables with mushroom shaped chrome table lamps and a bar with a bartender making drinks. I went back to my mom and told her what it was like. She thought I was making it up, but she was just as surprised when I took her back. We sat in the chairs sipping on drinks and watching the Grand Canyon below us. If any of you are curious, Google “1971 American Airlines 747 coach lounge”. An ad with a photo of the exact lounge appears. I read years later that these lounges in 747’s didn’t make it a year since American needed to increase seats for paying passengers. It was a luxurious way to fly, it was pretty fun for a 9 year old too.

  I got to sit 1A on a Thai 74 from LA to Taipei to Bangkok in the 90’s. It was wonderful.

  I love the Lufthansa lounge at Frankfurt! It&apos;s my go to whenever I fly JFK - SIN via FRA on SQ.

  Seeing them in person, the Lufthansa 747&apos;s somehow seem extra magestic on the outside compared to other carrier&apos;s 747&apos;s.

  My sister and I were lucky enough to be upgraded to First Class when flying Honolulu to Auckland, New Zealand. It was in 1980 and on a PanAm 747. The steward at the time commented that as we were in the first row we were actually forward of the pilots. Members of an exclusive club he joked.
