The Wharfedale LINTON deserve your FULL attention

  At the end of the day, as a Graphic designer, product design is important to me. I have just ordered a pair as they will fit in with my ´mid century, Boho chić´ haha style living room. I cant tell the difference between high res audio and CDs for example and all the adjectives Used to describe sound are incomprehensible to me so i go with the looks and sound thats considered value for money as these seem to be. To be used with Dual 1019 turntable, Cayin LA-34 Plus tubes amp, Ampapa A1 phono preamp (changing one of the tubes to a Tung-Sol 12AX7), Cayin Mini-CD Mi II player and a TEAC A-640 cassette deck…..as you can see nothing exotic or ‘high’ end just good solid designs. I am 1966 born so this set of speakers look like speakers should look like…..

  I wish these speakers were 1200 dollars... More like 1700 dollars these days.. I have an issue with them being made in China for 1700 dollars tbh..

  The Wharfedale Lintons are special. There are a few issues to complain about, like sound staging is almost nonexistent, unless you pair it with exceptionally powerfull amps. But when you listen to these speakers, you forget to complain. You just flip from one album to the next & consider “calling in sick” to stay home alone and listen to your entire collection. (Isn’t that the whole point ?) From classics to Daft Punk and everything in between. Been comparing it side by side with this year’sWharfedale EVO 5.4 speakers. The EVOs produce way better sound stage and handle high power with much more confidence than Lintons. But the Lintons sound so much better in the room when you are NOT sitting right in front & middle, looking for the position if each instrument on stage.

  I was running mine with my vintage Pioneer SX-1080. The protection circuitry was kicking in with the volume turned up to about the 10 o'clock position. Especially with bass turned up past halfway. I figured the Super Linton's were playing down below 4 ohms, causing the 1080 to shut off. My Yamaha A-S801 played the Super Linton's nice and loud, no issues at all. I wanted to keep my Pioneer on display so I purchased 2 Emotiva monoblocks, the BasX A1's and used the Pioneer as a pre-amp. Sounds incredible. Emotiva is probably the best "bang for the buck" that you can find! Just ordered the EverSolo T8 to run through my Denafrips Ares 15th...can't wait.

  I paired mine with LEAK Stereo 230 amp and they sound fantastic.

  Hi, Hey Hello Darko, but it feels like everything you want to say about this Speaker (even the name...The "WARFEDALE LINTON" is somehow couched in an excuse for being sub-adequate).  It may be your style of describing but , it is coming off as a very 'hesitant' will to praise this speaker speaker. There is definite Reservation in your adjectives.  I'm not objecting, I'm just wondering/thinking that this is actually an accurate assessment. Like ... "not sure how to like this, or where I like this"   Thank you for struggling to explain you position on this.  I can live with that!

  I have been thinking of changing my Monitor Audio Silver 500s for a while now. I love everything about them except the HF. Long term I find they can sound gritty and a little tizzy at times, that drives no nuts. Slightly less HF will probably do the job for me, after all you can always add a few dB but cutting the HF on the Silvers just makes the gritty sound less along with the detail. Monitor Audio really needs to replace the tweeter, in my humble opinion.

  Def not a pain to pull off  it's a doddle   just put your fingers in the gap and pull forward . I do it quite often just to enjoy a different look .  but I agree .... superb at this price point

  When the super Linton’s were sold out I bought Mofi 10, after hearing 8’s and 888. Bought two Rel T5x. Up and down, track to track. Went to Crutchfield heard Super Linton, Linton, Mofi 10, Heresey… With Linton’s, everything sounds great and w stereo Rel’s same price as Super Linton’s alone. Man. Paired so much better with Galion TS A75. Excellent value. Read comments in any review for just how many happy customers exist.
