  I can remember in the 1950s and 60s that we had no perception of the magnitude of bad things happening around the world. When a real disaster happened, it was reported and it was horrifying to hear., and people rushed to help. By the end of the 20th century, all the news outlets were breathlessly reporting every major and minor incident around the country and around the world. It left you afraid of life and the only solution I had was to stop listening to the news. If something truly bad happened that had implications for me, I&apos;d hear about it. The end result was that I stopped caring about most events (if it didn&apos;t affect me, there were too many things going on in the world to care about without it affecting you mentally. If you had to care about everything, you had no energy to truly care about anything). I do wonder if that was an intentional act by the Evil One. Get good people to stop caring about the pain and suffering in the world, and you&apos;ve won a battle against God. It&apos;s going to take some time for me to learn to start caring as I should again.

  Thank you for this video. I never realized what a gift my compassion was until it was gone. I used to feel so hurt and so sad about the suffering of other people and animals. It pained me unendingly. I was an atheist then. I had no understanding of prayer. Then I started to take medication for my ADHD. That poison somehow killed all of my compassion and ability to love. At first I felt freed from a burden. But over time I realized how much I missed the compassion and love I used to feel. The misery of indifference was a much larger pain than the compassion I had. I got very sick and finally listened to God calling me. I stopped taking the medication. I entered the Church and I have been praying for a return of my compassion. Slowly it is returning to me and inspiring good works again. I thought I was totally alone in this until I saw this video. Thank you so much. This has inspired me to pray even more for my heart to open. I hope anyone else who is suffering this way is helped by your teaching. God Bless you all.

  Hello, may you say a quick prayer for me if you have the time? My name is Andrew. I ruined my marriage recently by my own accord. Completely squandered a great blessing I had. I also hurt my wife in the process. At the lowest point of my life a week ago I walked into an Orthodox Church for the first time. I pray that the Lord uses this tough time in my life to humble me and that I am granted the courage and endurance to perseve until the end of my life. That God shines through me, and even leads my wife to Orthodoxy in the future.. whether we reconcile or not. God bless you.

  Consuming suffering - as if it were a source of entertainment or escapism from our own lives, our own faults. It is a very sterile feeling, Father, as if we do not look at these poor people bearing the image of God, but as a people who nihilistically draw us away from caring for our fellow man. Not the understanding of death in an Orthodox way, but in a wrathful and destructive way. <br><br>Just wanted to add I love the way you structure your videos, Father: with parables and ancient teachings. ☦️

  Thank you. &nbsp;Was just talking with my sister about this in the last week. &nbsp;Terrible things in the world which once would have elicited a moral response within me, have become akin to weather for me, even if still in my mind I know them to be terrible. &nbsp;I&apos;ve become very desensitized to it all and I know it&apos;s not a good condition.
