As in a previous video, you got wrong the reason for Archduchess Gisela's marriage to Prince Leopold of Bavaria. The reason for that union was that he had originally been intended for Princess Amalie of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha: but Sisi's youngest brother, Duke Max Emanuel in Bavaria, had fallen madly in love with her himself -- and confided his sentiment to his older sister. To remove his rival from the picture, Sisi decided to distract Leopold by introducing him to her own daughter Gisela -- by inviting him over for tea (a common way for royal introductions). Emperor Franz Joseph expressed his approval of the prince, despite the fact that he had no chance of ever succeeding to the Bavarian throne as king, because there were so few eligible Catholic princes available on the royal marriage market for princesses. Leopold, therefore, took the cue and proposed to Gisela: his heart leapt even further after being presented with a handsome dowry; he therefore quickly got over his earlier infatuation. Meanwhile, after allowing Amalie time to recover from her loss, Sisi introduced him to her baby brother: the two hit it off quickly and easily and married in 1875 -- two years after his niece Gisela married the very man who had originally been engaged to his wife. The marriage in 1873 of Leopold and Gisela, then, was indeed the result of Sisi's machinations -- but in nowise was coerced.
