  Rudolf's favourite sister was NOT Marie Valerie but rather Gisela. He resented Marie Valerie because Sisi poured all of her love into that child, calling her "my only one" while mostly ignoring Gisela and Rudolf. Sisi was especially cruel to Gisela, making fun of her appearance and saying horrific things about her husband and children. Sisi hated having an arranged marriage as a teenager, but she made sure Marie Valerie had a love match. Meanwhile, she forced Gisela to marry at the age of 16, not carrying what her daughter, son, and husband were saying. Sisi was not a good mother.

  He was the product of an authoritarian father who never really knew how to connect with his son, and an absent mother who equally didn't really care about him and spent most of her adult life running away from her responsibilities and left her family behind in the process.

  I personally enjoyed the way this story was told, the narrator was excellent.

  A bit inappropriate to say reports of him being ill were a lie designed to cover up. Sure, there was a cover up. I suspect the young girl wasn’t as into the idea as they made it sound. But he clearly was unwell. He was clinically depressed. <br><br>Also, who the heck thinks taking a suicidal person hunting is a good idea?

  Wow! &nbsp; Great and tremendous account that sounds totally credible. I had previously understood a tragic love affair, instead of a much more tragic destruction.

  It was common knowlege in Vienna that Mary was his mistress months before November. &nbsp;She was no innocent going into the relationship, either. &nbsp;She loved him fanatically, but he didnt love her, but he used her because he didn&apos;t &nbsp;want to die alone.
