While everyone in Wembley was clapping along Radio Gaga, 100.000 people in J.F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, who were only watching the concert on a big Jumbotron screen, were also clapping in the same time. That is the kind of power that Freddie had.

Roger has said that during Live Aid "We Are the Champions" he looked out and the crowd was like sheaves of wheat blowing in the wind.

Roger said that since they didn't have any sound mufflers and backing track, that they couldn't hear anything.  He looked up towards the end of the concert and thought "this is going well".

So excited to wake up and see this!!!!!  He blew a kiss to his mother. The reason he bends over to show his bottom is a gesture to the Sheffield Brothers. They are the two in the management company that screwed them over the first couple years and kept most of their money. Freddie made a comment to Brian after their huge success with Bohemian Rhapsody with their new manager, who took care of getting them released from the Sheffield Brothers, that he will do that to remind them how they lost out on a very successful group. Like in the song Death in Two Legs- “You can kiss my a— goodbye” The radio sound is indeed from Brian’s guitar. They show a close up at Wembley where Brian has a clear plastic cover on one of his fingers and gets that sound out of the Red Special. You were not allowed to have anything but your instruments at Live Aid. No extra sound equipment etc. The guy standing at the corner like a statue is security with their road crew. If you look closer at his face it’s the same guy who was in the front row at Montreal when you reacted to Bohemian Rhapsody and he wasn’t moving a muscle. Roger said the sound on stage was terrible and they had no idea what they sounded like and they were shocked afterward when Elton John told them they stole the show.  As far as the sound, the company who was hired to do the sound for Live Aid was actually Queens sound engineers. The gentleman in charge was the one who increased the parameters on the sound when no one was looking. Now you know why this is still rated the number 1 Live Rock and Roll performance in history. Unbelievable that he had a bad throat and Dr told him not to do it. Thank goodness he did it anyway!!!! You have to remember this was NOT a Queen audience yet Freddie had them eating out his hand the minute he ran on stage. No one had ever seen audience participation like that before. It just wasn’t done back then. In my opinion we will never see or experience a group like this again. I’m so happy we are lucky enough to have these videos to experience the greatness over and over again. 1.9 Billion people watched Live Aid across 150 nations on TV. (I was one of them that eventful Saturday). It was truly thrilling to see them live on TV for the first time. There was one more song that Freddie and Brian did later that evening called The World We Created. It was perfect for this event. Roger brought in Radio Ga Ga and he and Freddie worked on it. Lady Ga Ga loved Queen and loved that song and that’s where she got her name from. Lady Ga Ga!

I am 76 years old and still get tears watching Freddie, he was the greatest frontman ever. What a shame he went so soon.!!
