It's indeed quite bizarre how Movies 6, 9 and 11 gave us cameos of Brendan, yet we'll never truly know if he's actually Birch's son in the anime continuity too... or just a random Joe Schmoe with a different background. If he's Birch's son tho, it's indeed sad how Ash & co. never got to cross paths with his kid (I'd like to imagine the Mudkip who once used Water Gun on May eventually became his Swampert... I just think it'd be funny).

Not even Masters could help Lucas, he's the most neglected male MC atm 😔

you could do a similar thing with the rivals. Gary was the OG and got the most screen time, but his rivalry with ash spilt into Johto, so silver got only a cameo. then you have characters like Barry and Bianca who are basically 1 to 1 adaptations of their roles in the games. and then other people like Cheren who appeared for 1 episode.

They still fared better than Hilda or Rosa did…

2:31 According to the Japanese dub, Jimmy/Ethan and Marina / Kris are slightly older than Ash, since they completed in the Johto league a year before Ash entered.

The anime considering Jimmy and Ethan as different characters is crazy

Drinking game for next time you watch Lyra’s arc:
Take a shot every time Lyra calls Dawn “Dane”
Take two shots every time Dawn’s name was said correctly within Lyra’s earshot.

Todd Snap, Solana, Kelynn and Ben from Pokemon Snap and the Ranger games also all appear in the anime, all having relatively big parts. So definitely not among the ones with the least appearances, but still fun to mention.

I know Lyra gets a lot of flak from fans for replacing Kris, but honestly, I thought she was pretty great as a lead :)
