  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN3PU63nlSw&amp;t=1058">17:38</a> I would like to point out that in the various appearances of Judge Fear, those are not called <i>bear</i> traps, that is a more modern term.<br>The real name of the item is a <i><b>mantrap.</b></i><b></b> They were primarily used in times of war.<br>Not many things scare people as much as the idea of war (and, to a lesser extent, being trapped by it), so using them as a crucial design element for an embodiment of fear is quite effective.

  Not everyone has fears. Judge Dredd looked into the face of Fear and didn&apos;t even flinch before bashing his head in.

  Honestly this is an amazing analysis, and now I realize how terribly the Batman who laughs and the dark knights miss the point. Because they’re very clearly inspired by the dark judges

  Good god. Matty you absolutely popped off with another incredible 2000 AD video. Really loved your interpretation of the Dark Judges being modern concepts of living in cramped apartment complexes. I was absolutely hooked. Wow!

  Like your breakdown of the Dark Judges being modern urban horseman. The Dark Judges designs always felt so simple but perfect. During the pandemic i started getting into 2000 AD and british satire comics. Judge Dredd, Nemesis the Warlock, Rogue Trooper, and ABC warriors were a blast to read and kept me sane during the pandemic and college. I was lucky to even get my hands on some back issues of Strontium Dogs from my local shop. Sadly im in the States so its hard to get a lot of 2000 AD(still trying to get my hands on Armoured Giddeon).
