  I often notice that experts take basic principles for granted, things that are so second nature that they do them subconsciously. It never occurs to them to explain how to do this simple process. This is universally true across all disciplines and I have caught myself doing just that in things I am expert at. Today's example, wicking your brush on the paper towel. I have seen several glazing videos, and this is the first one where that was explained in detail. I had been doing it wrong and my painting had suffered for it.
