  The Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan in 480 Ruger is the KING. Six shots and it pushes,  it does not snap. Buffalo Bore makes an awesome round for it.

  The problem with bear spray is that you can't use bear spray and shoot a gun at the same time.  I lived in Alaska, and bear spray won't stop a determined bear or a sow with cubs.

  As a rifle guy, I started collecting revolvers that will fire the same cartridge as some of my rifles.  1st I got a 357Magnum Rossi R92 and a 357Magnum Chiappa Rhino 40DS.  Next I got a S&W 460V to compliment my Henry 45 Colt.  Just this week I bought a S&W M350Legend.  I do want to buy a 44Magnum Chiappa Rhino 60DS next.  I have never had a problem with bears that I have encountered.  But one town I visited in Montana had a bear attack in the Post Office parking lot.  Some bicycle tourers had camped overnight.  The bear came through 3 times that night.  And attacked a lady over a stripe of grape jelly on her upper lip.  There were 8 or 9 people in the group that witnessed the whole thing.  Without any ability to scare off or stop the bear.  I figure there may be a situation to protect someone else in danger in some of the places my wife and I go.

  My 9 year old son shoots 10mm out of a t&w aero survival rifle. 30 round mags. He’s putting all shots in a 3” group at 50 yards. Not slow it’s about as fast as most could.  Very happy with this.

  We have black bears here.  I have a S&W 629, Mountain Gun, loaded with solids, that I used to carry while walking my dog in the evening.  The recoil is brutal because the gun is light.  I switched to a Glock 29 with the full size Glock magazines.  It is more comfortable to shoot and carry concealed.  I still load it with solids.  The best hand gun for bear is a rifle.

  I survived a bear attack with a 22 caliber the other hiker I shot in leg not so lucky 😂😂😂

  While Bear spray may work, many variables are against it: 4 quarter wind direction, &nbsp;predatory charge less likely to be detered by spray, short range and duration of spray.<br>Carry spray, in group of 2+, as well as everyone proficient with 10 mm. &nbsp;I like Springfield XDM ELITE 5.25 barrels.
