In early 2002, I deployed to Afghanistan. I was C Co. 1/75. I remember seeing what I thought was a man in is 70's humping it around. He was wearing woodland camo jacket and a pair of rust brown dungarees. Knowing what I know now because of books, podcasts, and such. I am pretty sure that was Billy Waugh.

Being a 71 year old active combat CIA operator is one hell of a resume

Waugh was cremated. A portion of his ashes were returned to his birthplace of Bastrop, Texas, while in accordance with his wishes, the remainder was scattered by a HALO jump team in a parachute jump over Raeford Drop Zone in Raeford, North Carolina.

Talk about a true American badass. Celebrated his 72nd birthday in the mountains of Afghanistan, chasing Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. This is the kind of person we should build statues of.

These are the types of videos that made Dark Docs popular. I don't know how they fell off so hard but this video of Billy Waugh was fantastic.

I read Billy's book, "Hunting the Jackel" and I kept having to remind myself that it was a true story and he only wrote about the things he was allowed to talk about. His career is so insane that Hollywood producers would probably refuse to make a movie about it due to it being too unrealistic. He was the "old man" in Vietnam, but yet, He was one of the first into Afghanistan. Freaking insane.
