Friday, June 4, 1968 – 12:45 PM. The best cornbread I ever tasted came from a Harlem lunch counter that's been gone for decades. Warm, slightly sweet, and served with butter melting into every corner. I've never found another one quite like it.

Split pea soup with ham is popular in Canada. The French Canadian version uses yellow peas because they are milder & slightly sweeter than the green peas. Habitant makes canned yellow pea soup that is thick (there are 3 versions of it; classic French Canadian, smoked ham; that has smoky pieces of ham, & garden vegetable; which adds diced carrots, onions, & green beans). It goes well with bannock.
