This mirrors everything I have learnt skippering sailors and non sailors alike, and also in a flotilla where it’s not just your boat crew’s limitations you need to be aware of. In advance, always good to sit and have a 1:1 with people who are new to you. In advance I always send a safety awareness message/email, repeated in person and a tour of the boat, its rigging and radio before throwing off the lines.So it is understood to some degree before leaving the pontoon, makes room for engagement wrt concerns, building trust and mitigating anxiety.

My Father, after owning a 27ft Macwester followed by a 27t Colin Archer, once said that in sailing, size is inversely proportional to fun. 50 sailing seasons later, including a few ocean passages solo on my 1979 Hustler 32 half tonner, i can confirm that
