  Professor Dunham&apos;s presentations always worth looking out for.<br>Correction: it was not Newton who invented the reflecting telescope, but rather my alma-mater, who attended Aberdeen Grammar School, James Gregory. Born just outside Aberdeen and educated at Marischal College, now the University of Aberdeen. He designed the Gregorian reflecting telescope and published his theoretical description of it in his 1663 work Optica Promota. This was several years before Newton built his version. <br>James Gregory&apos;s nephew, David Gregory was the Gregory who knew Newton. He also attended Aberdeen Grammar school and Aberdeen University and later became Professor of Astronomy at Oxford.
