  I grew up there but moved at age 22. I do visit often, but have never missed the dark, wet, grey, cold, dismal weather. I absolutely hate it.

  My husband was born and raised in Manhattan. He left and came to Pittsburg to attend the University of Pittsburgh for his Medical degree. I was a nurse where he did a rotation. We met married had a family and have been married for 50 years. He and I absolutely love Pittsburgh and all the surrounding suburbs.

  We live in CA and have a daughter who went to Pitt and has stayed in PIttsburgh. I have visited 5 times and have never found nicer people. I grew up in Detroit and the folks are similar. Very relational and down-to-earth.

  Even as a native, it surprises me how a complete stranger will start telling intimate details of their life to the check out lady at the supermarket or to an Uber driver, etc.  I thought that was normal till I lived in other places and found out differently.  Funny thing is, my roommate from Philly and other transplants I know are like this on steroids so I think that we attract people who want to be that open about themselves.

  The grass is never really greener in my opinion.  I'm born and raised here in Pittsburgh and I've had a love, hate relationship here because of how far behind the times we've always been and because I've obtained my degree in interior design then switched to cosmetology.   All in all being a starving artist and having many curve balls thrown my way in life, I love the memories here most of all and the many dreams that have literally came true.   I can drive anywhere here blindfolded.   Happiness is within,  not outside ourselves.
