Poor Verso, he just wants to die in peace, but his mother and sister won't let him rest.

Alicia wants to escape a life of pain, neglect, and feelings of inadequacy. And she misses her brother, and feels responsible for his death.

Aline cannot cope with the loss of her son, and is prepared to destroy herself clinging onto his memory.

Renoir cannot bear seeing his wife destroy herself. But i also think the canvas brings him pain, as it's a constant reminder of the loss of his son. He wants closure, and to preserve what he has left.

Clea lives in the present, and needs her parents with her to aid her in the conflict with the writers. She aids her father, to force her mother out.

Verso wants his family to live on. He wants them to be free and happy. He also wants peace for his soul, he wants it all to be over. Sacrificing himself for his family, the same way he sacrificed himself for Alicia during the fire.

This is a game about a dysfunctional family, clashing over the death of their son/brother. Each are imposing their own ideologies on the other. Neither can let go.

This is how stories should be written.

Little correction, Sciel did not give birth to a child. She got pregnant from her lover shortly before he died, however she wasn't aware. After his death she tried to commit suicide by drowning but was rescued by Esquie and brought to the hospital in Lumière, which is where she learns she was pregnant, but the child died in her suicide attempt. The scar on her belly is likely from the removal of the dead fetus.

Also her lover didn't die from the gommage, he died from an accident which was the hard part. They were prepared for the Gommage but not for that.

That part where Monoco is getting hit in the face with masks made me laugh harder than anything else in the game

Im 40 yo, i play games since 6. I dont understand how anyone could come out with this story. Imagine you sit by the table brainstorming and suddenly you raise hand: "I have an idea", and you present this. Christopher Nolan has been put to shame by "some French dude".

What I loved is how, through the game, you don't understand what the heck the characters are talking about and what they mean, and when you finally learn the truth, it all makes sense. It's like the truth was the translator for everything they have said.

I adore stories like this. Where there are no technical "bad guys". Just a tragic story that the characters are trying to make sense of in their own ways. Thank you for this video and covering such a rare gem of a game.

I think Verso soul was the one caught in the middle.. not Lumiere or the dessendres.. because no matter what ending we choose Verso's soul was the ultimate sacrifice.

Esquie was a plushie. Monoco and Noco were named after the dogs.

The oldest creations seem to have been Esquie and Francois, then came the gestrals.
