An Expedition Zero DLC would be so damn good.

Imagine a party of Verso, Renoir and Simon.

I feel mostly bad for Lune and Sciel during Verso’s ending. They just found out that their entire lives were essential part of a illusion, and everything that they (and every single expedition before them) did was for nothing, as it would inevitably lead to all their deaths anyway.

Why was this the fifth lore video I've clicked on and the first one that actually explained the concepts and lore instead of recapping the game in order of events.

Thank you!

The nature of the canvas becomes clearer when you realize it's basically a Holodeck. You can create whatever you want, you can lose yourself in it, you can create people to fall in love with, and you can die if you're not careful. If this were a sci-fi game, it would be about the dangers of simulated realities instead of paintings.

Had to watch this a couple times to really piece together the convolutedness of the meta story.
Btw, you missed the Expedition 70 who installed grapple points throughout the world. Truly the MVP of them all until 33.

I never took the Gommage to be Renoir targeting the oldest creations. I understood it to be him trying to erase everyone, and a gradually weakened Aline choosing the save the youngest of her creations.

Makes sense that Julie is in expedition 0. We have to remember around year 100, the population was probably soooo much higher and they had more people of all ages joining expeditions to stop the “paintress”. As we see around the map they had armies of people in airships and other technology. It isn’t until 33 that we see and hear that it’s hard to get anyone to sign up for expeditions since the population is so much smaller and people are just giving up on hope. I imagine they the expeditions continued to just get smaller and smaller over the years.

Bro, lore folks don't mind watching hour-long videos. It's what we're here for 😎

Let's not forget that expedition 60 weren't just all power and muscle. They were smart enough to learn the truth about the gommage and even get the info back to lumierre in a journal. It's just luck that no one found it until 33.

Biggest plot twist was that I was playing a isekai game all along.

Don't forget. Chroma also means colour. Literally, you need 'paint/chroma' to paint your thoughts into a canvas
