A great tribute to bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield. RIP.

In the mid-90s, this was a track we’d put on after getting home in the morning after a whole night spent raving/clubbing.

Fun fact: "Fool's Gold" was inspired by & evolved from The Stone Roses trying to cover Young MC's Hip-Hop track "Know How" (the Roses' bassline & heavy wah are direct lifts) - which, itself, was based on Isaac Hayes' "Theme From Shaft" & The Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache". "Fool's Gold" was the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" of 1989.

We danced to this on the rainy streets of Manchester back in 1989. We had the best gruds back then ;)

They were my favorite Manchester scene band. It was the original rave scene based on huge parties where pharmaceutical grade X was used by the majority.
