Vaelith. A World After the Fall Among the thousands of known worlds, there are planets that appear dead before a human ever sets foot upon them. But Vaelith is different. Once, it was a living and thriving world. Vast cities stood across its surface, supported by advanced infrastructure and a complex ecosystem. Today, only ruined structures, broken roads, and enormous constructions disappearing into the fog remain. We do not know what caused the catastrophe. The surviving records are too fragmented. All we know is that the changes began suddenly. The atmosphere became hostile, the climate shifted dramatically, and vast regions of the planet were devastated by an unknown natural phenomenon. The population began abandoning its cities, leaving behind equipment, stations, and entire facilities that no one would ever maintain again. But Vaelith did not die. Despite the destruction, life continues to exist among the ruins. Small organisms have adapted to the new environment and slowly spread across the abandoned territories. Some live among the rocks and cracks in the surface, while others hide within the thick fog or deep beneath the remains of ancient structures. The vegetation of Vaelith is unlike anything found on Earth. It is sparse, growing only in small patches across the dark, rocky surface, where strange blue and violet plants have adapted to the planet's harsh conditions. Scientists believe many of these organisms appeared after the catastrophe and may never have existed before it. Traces of the old infrastructure can still be found across the planet. Enormous bridges connect ruined complexes, towers rise above the distant plains, and some machines continue operating despite having received no maintenance for thousands of years. Dense clouds almost constantly cover the skies of Vaelith. Sunlight barely reaches the surface, while heavy fog spreads across the ruined regions, turning them into vast, silent plains. Yet life still moves where nothing should have survived. Small creatures emerge among the rocks, disappear into the fog, and move between the remains of ancient structures. They know nothing of the history of this world. To them, the ruins are not monuments to a lost civilization, but simply part of the environment in which they were born. From orbit, Vaelith looks like a dead planet. But descend beneath the clouds, and another truth becomes clear. It did not die. It changed. And among the ruins of the past, dark plains, and ancient structures, life continues its journey on a world that survived the end of its former civilization.
