  Catherine truly lived up to her name — ‘Great’ doesn’t even begin to cover it. This documentary captures her ambition and complexity so well. Videos like this remind me why I love history. I’ve been creating calming historical content myself lately — and this is a high bar to learn from.

  I am Volga Deutsche! &nbsp; Katherine the Great gave my family a very large piece of free land on the Volga river. &nbsp; We are Prussian from the same area as are wonderful empress! &nbsp; May she Rest In Paradise!

  Catherine was responsible for promoting early vaccine development for small pox. That&apos;s pretty enlightened.

  Would love to see some of the more important medieval French monarchs and maybe even a few popes. The Renaissance ones were a colourful bunch. Thanks for the upload of Catherine. Haven&apos;t watched yet but don&apos;t doubt it will be a good one.

  If you haven&apos;t seen &quot;The Great&quot; go do it immediately. I haven&apos;t laughed that hard in ages sadly it was discontinued 😢

  I’ve read so many different history books that seem all quite different that it’s hard to choose which ones are most accurate. I do believe she was a survivor as a woman in power who made reforms and expanded the land around her. She never remarried like a lot of women don’t because that gave her a freedom few women in her day had. That she was able to hold on to power until her death is remarkable. That’s all I can safely say about her.
