Do not go on vacation. It's a potential honour killing waiting to happen. Especially if they're ok with your brother being violent. Nope. If you want to be independent then you need to organise your own trip or vacation. It would be hell. Be polite and respectful, but be firm and stick to your boundaries. Don't tell them where you stay. Don't tell family or friends if you don't need to. Give them some time and see if it calms down.

She is naive. It’s a trap and she needs to stay gone.

Be careful of going on vacation with your parents. Some parents pretend its a vacation then the girl ends up in an arranged marriage.

I think this woman is underestimating her parents intention for vacation. Just because they weren’t going to Africa doesn’t mean her “betrothed” isn’t going to be on that vacation waiting at the destination for her. I can completely see controlling Muslim parents setting their daughter up to meet her “husband” at their European vacation spot so they can “get to know each other.”

And while I’m thinking on it, they could feel betrayed because HER actions are messing up THEIR plans to marry her off because something about her mother saying “idk if you marry a 40yo, you’re not leaving home before marriage” has got my misandrist senses going TF off. That’s a crazily specific age to just be randomly speaking on.

That woman did exactly the right thing. The parents are lying to her. I hope she skips the family vacation, I"m scared for her safety.

1. They trained your brother to be an abuser.
2. Hide all information as they will use it.
3. Do not go because it is a TRAP.
4. Find another apartment and do not give the location away. If you own the first one, rent it out and use the rent to pay for a new place.
5. Place all your assets into a trust and lock them up tight.
6. Get a burner phone, just in case.

The trip is a trap. I thought that my parents wouldnt turn on me too, but they did. Keep and hold distance for a long time. Its the only way.

Not me listening to this and FREAKING out like OMG please do NOT go on vacation with them they'll marry you off girl. My anxiety was spiking, and now I just got the biggest relief hearing somebody commented that to OP and she saw it. The biggest blessing in my life has been being disowned by my family for divorcing the old man they made me marry (he wasn't actually an old man only 37, but I was only 15 so in that context he was old to me) it took me a bit to realize this but now, I have attained levels of freedom previously unthinkable. Her family won't change, low or no contact is the only way out of it
Edit: I should finish video's before I type comments, she's going on the vacay 😪😪😪

As a fellow african daughter, whose parents allowed her older brother to be physically abusive—no. She does not need to feel bad or have told them sooner. They would only try to sabotage her.

Not caring if she married some old man, is just sick and very telling. So, go from controlling household to controlling household. No break or freedom in between

She is underestimating her parents. I don’t think she should vacation with them until she is at more emotionally independent space. She needs to process everything that went on living with them.

We don’t know the lengths they will go to, and she wants to assume the best. People have found themselves trapped without going back to their home country
