True story.
I bought a small plastic bottle of Gorilla instant glue and used 0 times because it had set in the bottle.
Wasn't cheap either.
And the shop didn't refund my money.
.
I've also used paint thinners, applied with a fine paint brush, to glue clear plastic components such as windows.
Worked a treat.

This is mind-blowing to me. I haven't built a model in close to 30 years and thought the standard "airplane" glue in the metal tube was all there was out there. I just picked up a kit - guess I'm going back to the shop for some better glue!

I even see 'pro youtube' builders using Tamiya extra thin, on kits with a lot of gaps, where it's not usefull due to it should only be used as a capilar glue = tight joints.
I use Extra thin too, but also a normal Tamiya cement where the joints is more... questionable.
A true modeller has more than one bottle of glue.
Know your enmy, use the right tool.
Great video.

So as an absolute beginner (never having made a model EVER) I bought a Kibri tower crane model kit - and it's level "professional". Yeah, well, those parts are MINISCULE. Idek how I'm gonna apply such small amounts of glue. I bought the Revell glue, btw. I'm glad I watched this video beforehand, though. Wish me luck. 😜✨️

Also, for anyone wondering why I start with a "professional" kit: I'm actually not particularly interested in modelling, but I really, really wanted a preassembled tower crane model and they just DON'T SELL THOSE ANYWHERE (except low-quality kids toys and some versions I don't really like that don't look like those "generic" tower cranes), so this was practically my only choice.

Tamiya thin cement is actually cellulose thinner aka...Lacquer thinner here in the states.

Great summary 👍🏻. I’ve now spent more time than I should looking for a clear but very strong adhesive for clear plastic parts. Going to try the 2 part epoxy….

Thank you for your time and all the information that you provided. I'm so grateful of people like you who are willing to share their expertise with those who are just starting out. The review of various glues and their application is very useful. Well done.
