Why doesn't Link speak?

  Link actually does have one English spoken voice line, in the Wind Waker. In the Tower of The Gods, when calling one of those ancient statues to him, Link calls out ”C’mon!” in English

  I feel like it would be hilarious if in a future Zelda game, in a cutscene at the end of the game, Link takes a breath to speak, then the scene abruptly cuts and the credits roll

  If link spoke too much he’d lose all his charm. My favorite is in OOT when he just stares at everyone like they’re crazy and runs away.

  I always imagined link canonically talks, it’s just whatever you as a player imagine him to say during any given conversation. That paired with response options, it seems that link isn’t necessarily mute in universe, just outside the games.

  Link actually does speak at least twice. In Zelda 2, he said &quot;There&apos;s a mirror under the table&quot;, and in Windwaker, he screamed &quot;COME ON&quot;

  I think not adding a voice to link, was a really good idea, it kind of gives him a unique personality.

  I like to imagine he doesn&apos;t speak, due to the ptsd he&apos;s acquired by repeatedly dying, while saving an infinitely resetting world
