The balls of electricity were just because in early rebels, Ezra was kinda a wus, and wasn't much of a killer. (I bet that if anyone else used a lightsaber blaster, those bullets would kill.)

8:02 I may disagree with you on this one, Jed. Having the crossguard is actually one of the better moves one could make for a lightsaber. Crossguards historically protected the hand and wrist, two things that badly need protecting in the Star Wars films(!) Some may point out the obvious concern of "just slide the blade down and sever the hilt from there, its useless!" except that you could do that on basically any saber and make it a poor weapon. We even see in the Obi-Wan vs. Grevious fight in ROTS how Kenobi slides his saber blade and goes for the wrist. a crossguard would've protected him quite nicely! Some more training would be needed to use it, but given that training sabers are a thing, doesn't seem difficult to imagine it being modified. Kylo's saber was the best thing to come from the sequels. But to each there own. (Dooku does have a cool saber though!)

Crossguard is insanely underrated on usefulness, when you're in a saber lock you are instantly more dangerous because you have extra blades that can be used to attack them while in the bind.

I once thought of a character that would collect lightsabers to make all these bizarre creations, like Saber Wings, Lightsaber Hammer, Lightsaber Shield etc.

The main issue with the darksaber in terms of practicality would come from the fact unlike most lightsabers, it has an edge. Which will affect how you're gonna be be able to fight other saber users with it which would compound the whole bonding thing.

8:07 They are useful. You could cut your oponents lightsaber or hand with the crossguard.

Ezra's saber blaster could kill. We hear kanan or rex complaining about Ezra choosing to use stun over kill.
