Having kids AFTER marriage would solve like 99% of these problems. It starts with the culture.

My mom and her four siblings grew up in a trailer without a father and a mom who worked night shifts. No present parent, barely an adult around. As a young teen, she got to babysit for a family at church and saw that life could be different. She decided she wanted that. So she made it happen. She graduated at 17, found a loving man who shared her values and drive, and they've now been together for 45 years and have 5 kids. Some of my mom's siblings chose to actively shape the life they wanted, others stayed right there in the trailer and let life keep hitting them while they were down. Teen pregnancies, drug addictions, prison time, the works. It's easy to do nothing and blame the world. It's so much harder and more fulfilling to make your own choices, learn from them, and become who you want to be. I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing woman my mother is and the work she put in to achieve the life she currently leads. She has always been an inspiration to me.

AND the fathers need to be good men. A violent/disrespectful/abusive/dishonest father at home is almost worse than having no father there at all.

If there were active dads around we’d have fewer teen take overs.

I’m Latina and I have no father in my life . For years , I believe my mother wants me to have nothing to do with him because of their divorce. But years later , I have to find out for myself that my father became a glorified Bum that burns bridges at everyone who listens and wants to help him and my grandmother keeps giving him money and stuff. Today , I’m working to save enough money for trade school.
I am forever thankful for my step father , the man who stepped up and wants me to actually be better and continue to progress. My real dad is my dad but he ain’t my daddy.

Stepdad passed away last year and still miss him but I’m grateful for the memories I have until he is gone.

I grew up without my dad, it was definitely his choice. My mom is a saint and has never once spoke down about my father (which I’ve always thought was crazy). But once I realized it was definitely my father who was the problem I got some therapy and moved on. I’m currently married and pregnant and refuse to keep the cycle going.
