Really glad to hear that this documentary is going to be shown on the BBC in January. So much admiration for Stephen. Not only is he an incredible dancer, but he must also have had incredible strength and determination to have fought his way back from what sounds like an absolutely devastating injury. He comes across as a really thoughtful, genuine and wise person. I'm going to see a live stream of Alice in Wonderland at the cinema next week, and hope I'll have the pleasure of watching him dance the Mad Hatter role again. Sending him very best wishes for good health and happiness.

Love this docu. It resonates with me and my rehab. The happy end is so encouraging to go through all the painful moments and trauma of an severe injury become the tiger as good as possible and find resillience in this process. The tears, the fears, the doubts, the lost trust in the body, the mental work, the support you need to find trust again and every second, minute, hour you feel so terribly lost and just let the thoughts and emotions come and go and step by step, little by little is so hard.
I am stil in this process.
And the contrast couldn't be bigger. Finding back tender movements, jumps, pirouettes and in the beginning of the rehab dealing with stiffness of the body and not being able to walk.
Steven had the luck to get all that is possible in this situation.
Even the pressure to earn money for his family.

So now you know what people have to go through with trauma and traumata.
So what happens to a person who has not that privilege?

Your mind will give you the answer.

For me it is a help to know I am not the only one who goes to a trauma and can make something good out of it.

They chose the right way to make this intimate documentary ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Steven McRae is incredible. He has persisted through injuries that would have benched most dancers -- and for good reason. I certainly would not judge them for that. I don't know how McRae has made it through, except of course clearly his passion for dance is all-consuming. I would be so superstitious talking about injury, so kudos to him for the film and this Q&A. Dancers so often dance throuugh pain in silence for fear of losing jobs because they are injured.

What's wrong with his accent? I know he's Australian but he almost sounds European, not from the UK where he lives.
