So, I will be moving into a new (to me) townhome soon. My wife and I were thinking it would make sense to make the back half of the living room into more of an office space while floating the sofa to the middle of the room. <br><br>Does it still make sense to put the rear speakers all the way in the back of the room instead of right behind the sofa?<br><br>Of course, my main concern will be dealing with wires or getting a clear wireless signal from the front of the room to the back of the room without cutting holes in the wall, etc. Any advice to make my system unobtrusive would be great. I already have all the speakers and the receiver, it's just the setup I'm trying to figure out. My Sony speakers are pretty old and nothing fancy, but they do the job. Otherwise, my good 5.1 system will end up becoming a (still decent) 3.1 system.<br><br>Note: There is no carpet in this living room -- all the flooring is LVP, which we prefer for the ease of keeping it clean. We might use an area rug here or there, but we'd like to avoid running wires under it. <br><br>Is there a better wireless rear speaker system than the Rocketfish one that I own? I find that one needs really clear line of sight between transmitter and receiver in order for the rear speakers to produce any sound at all.<br><br>Note #2: I took out the speakers and boxed them up for the upcoming move, so we're just relying on the TV's built-in speakers for the moment. They're obviously not great but not as bad as I was imagining for the small living room in a townhome. Maybe a mid-range soundbar with wireless rear speakers would be "good enough" for that space? I like having dedicated speakers up front, especially when I play vinyl records, but it's those rear speakers and all their wires that give me the most trouble.

Of course hts speakers add a lot to the home theater experience!<br><br>And if your space isn’t over 8ft high and your audio space isn’t more than 15ft by 17ft long, you don’t need bookshelf speakers for overheads.<br><br>For my overhead area, I sit in the middle of a 9ft by 9ft box with small 3.5 in speakers from Rockville audio at the corners of the squares, pointed at the MLP and my overhead sounds, sound great!

I think this is a great setup but it isn’t truly conducive to renters. A better system is a floor standing with Atmos upfire like a Klipsch 8060FA II so that you don’t have to run wires to the rear or ceiling. Them rely on virtualization to create surround
