Avatar 1 was an empty rehash of several older, better movies. A story to justify a tech demo. Way of Water was an empty rehash of Avatar 1, with added family, and more tech demo. But it introduced an "Earth is dying" subplot that SHOULD have recontextualised human exploits on Pandora, it just didn't realise what it had done.
