  In episode 2 after Legasov shouts "Yes, and we'll be dead in five years", you can see Boris deflate as it sinks in. After that his attitude changes and he and Legasov actually develop a friendship; it's great character development.

  The engineer who was forced to look into the reactor was Sitnikov.  He died 34 days later.

  I spent a year working in the Soviet Union in 1990 (office work). It was a strange experience. There was a person assigned by the state to sit by the copy machine and review every document before it could be copied. &nbsp;He did not make copies for you. &nbsp;He just read the documents before you could make the copies yourself. &nbsp;Also, once my sister called me to tell me she was pregnant...the next day a strange man engaged me in small talk in an elevator and he congratulated me on becoming an uncle (I hadn&apos;t told him). I was a nobody, but clearly he was letting me know they were listening to my calls.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLZgHdDNDPk&amp;t=614">10:14</a> I believe this hugging and touching was actually more dangerous for the person who was exposed to the radiation because by this point their entire immune system would have been completely destroyed.

  The impact of radiation shown in this episode is a family-friendly version. The reality was much worse and horrifying!

  Here&apos;s one sad thing - Dyatlov was played by the actor Paul Ritter. Despite Dyatlov being exposed to such radiation at Chernobyl, he actually died 10 years older than the actor who played him.<br>Dyatlov died at 64, Paul Ritter died at 54 of a brain tumour.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLZgHdDNDPk&amp;t=460">7:40</a> in reality the three men completed their mission in the dark itself because they knew the compound so well. The handpumped lights are real soviet tech tho, the series therefore included it for better viewing experience, and it looks cool too.
