  20 minute standing ovation for the GOAT. I was actually in Italy when he died in 2007. The outpouring of grief was incredible.

  This aria gives <b>everyone</b> goosebumps. It gets me every - single - time - and I have heard it probably hundreds of times. Pavarotti was one of the very best with it, if not <b>the</b> best.<br><br>Thank you.

  He&apos;s singing an aria from Giacomo Puccini&apos;s opera Turandot, which is one of my favorite operas. Pavarotti was considered the most acclaimed tenor of all time. Unfortunately he died of pancreatic cancer in 2007. A huge loss.

  I was fortunate to have seen him live in concert with my parents. I will never forget his voice, he brought me to tears.

  Pavarotti has such a recognizable voice that you can pick him out of a lineup of opera singers while blindfolded. &nbsp;He is iconic and the voice is so good it makes the goosebumps rise on your arms.

  The language is Italian. The opera is Turandot, from Puccini. This is a tragic story, full of emotion, written and composed at the end of the 19s century, but still, the emotion is here. Pavarotti nails it to perfection.

  He’s got 20 minutes standing ovation for this! This is by far the GREATEST PERFORMANCE of all time! No one comes even close! I saw almost every reaction video to Nessun Dorma, because I love to see how people completely froze at the very first second, when he starts singing. I mean he gets me every single time, it doesn’t matter, that I already heard it 1000 times. Absolutely brilliant! ❤

  Luciano Pavarotti was Italian and you don&apos;t have to speak the language to feel the passion and emotion in the songs he performed. He gave 100% every time he stepped on the stage and literally goes to another realm as seen on his face at the end of Nessun Dorma when he finishes the song and &quot;comes back to himself&quot;. He&apos;s amazing. Other opera songs you would appreciate are Freddie Mercury and Montseratt Cabelle singing &quot;Barcelona&quot;, &quot;The Golden Boy&quot; or &quot;How Can I Go On (Live at La Nit 1988&quot;. The song &quot;Barcelona&quot; was used for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona but Freddie new he wouldn&apos;t live to see it. Today is the anniversary of his death, November 24, 1991. Freddie and Montserrat did a full album together. She was a premier Spanish Opera singer call &quot;La Superba&quot; and was Freddie&apos;s favorite opera voice. Great reaction!

  The story told in the opera is that of a cold princess, Turandot (name of the opera), who decrees that any suitor who wants her hand must solve three riddles or be put to death. Calaf, a prince (the role Pavarotti plays) falls in love with her and answers her riddles correctly, but she refuses to accept his hand. So he gives her a way out... guess his name by dawn, or she must marry him. She decrees that no one in her kingdom shall sleep (No one shall sleep = Nessun Dorma) until his name is discovered. The song is him responding to that with his confidence that no one knows his name, and he shall tell it to her tomorrow when he kisses her at dawn. He asks the stars to set quickly so he can be victorious. &quot;I will win. I will win.&quot; And the power from the voice and the build of the orchestra is just incredible to witness live. Never saw him perform it... but others.<br><br>The thing to remember about opera is that it was the movie format of its time. They have action, romance, sex, murder, comedy, love triangles, all of it. Everything we get in movies today, they did in opera back then. What people like and laugh at hasn&apos;t really changed all that much... just the format. Mozart was particularly fond of inappropriate humor for example. Opera gets a bad rap as stuffy and unapproachable.
