Here are the (5) things that I need right now: Time, Time, Time, Time, and Time.

Absolutely true! I have pretty much quit buying gear and I don’t need anymore plugins. I have all that I need. You hav no idea how comforting that is!
I turn on my mixer/interface, my computer and synths. Call up my DAW and record.

Man! This is some solid advice. Most people don't say anyhing about the room. Room, mic placement, and performance are waaaaayyyyyyy more important than the actual gear you use. Solid.

I found a 25 year old Tascam Cassette Recorder. I bought after a salesman asked me what I was looking for. I told I wanted to learn how to record music and was looking at very expensive equipment. He asked ifI recorded music before. I said no. Maybe you should learn on this easy to use Tascam four track recorder that was very cheap but good to learn on. I bought it and a few weeks later I realized how wise this guy was. I learned the basics. Wise salesman and full of integrity.

I produced a song on a Grammy nominated album on an old cheap Dell labtop in college. My equipment today is significantly better. I have most of the great plugins, expensive mics and pres. And since that track I produced, I have not gotten on another Grammy nominated or winning album. Not that this is required to show music success, the point is you can get far making music on cheaper equipment as long as the passion, drive, creativity and chance are there.

Good one. For recording stereo guitars you need 2 mics though..totally agree with you. Decent instruments are not expensive anymore, I have 2 Harley Benton guitars I use all the time...just do not buy crappy microphones...equing can be hell then.

Your video is all common sense and a reminder that spending more doesn't necessarily equate to better sounds . Enjoyed the logic .

This is so true. I compared a se4100 with a neumann tlm 49. Almost no difference in sound and more than three times the price. Yes, you are so right. For us gearfreaks a difficult thing to admin.

7:24 Luna is free too and the best free/cheap DAW I’ve seen so far… and I’ve tried them all, even participated to the development of some, and yet Luna is the one I would recommend to any beginner. Associate it to an UA Volt interface and you have a perfect home studio solution. Add the cheap UA mics (Hemisphere) and you will have mic modeling in your DAW… I’m not sponsored by or working for UA, but after checking everything on the market, I found out it’s the best solution for beginners or even advanced users that need to build their own affordable studio solution.

YouTube, with the door locked.

Aegis plays a clean stream instead of YouTube's player, so pre-roll ads, trackers, and fingerprinting never ride along. Drop Shields any time if you want the official player back.
