High-yield ARE divisions include:

Division 01 — General Requirements: Administrative and procedural requirements specific to the project (e.g., submittal procedures, temporary facilities, progress cleaning).

Division 03 — Concrete: Cast-in-place, post-tensioned, architectural concrete.

Division 07 — Thermal & Moisture Protection: Damp-proofing, waterproofing, air barriers, insulation, roofing, joint sealants.

Division 09 — Finishes: Drywall, tile, acoustical ceilings, flooring, painting.

CSI SectionFormat (3-Part Structure): Every individual technical specification section is organized into three standard parts:

Part 1 — General: Administrative items, regulatory requirements, submittals, mockups, quality assurance, warranties, delivery/handling.

Part 2 — Products: Approved manufacturers, raw materials, assemblies, performance standards, mixes, equipment specs.

Part 3 — Execution: Site inspection, surface preparation, installation methods, field quality control/testing, cleaning, protection.

Specification Types & Risk:

Proprietary (Closed): Names specific manufacturers and model numbers. Limits substitution, ensures precise design control, but reduces competitive bidding.

Performance: Specifies required end-result performance criteria (e.g., STC ratings, structural wind load capacity) without dictating exact products. Transfers material selection risk to the contractor.

Descriptive: Details physical properties, dimensions, and manufacturing processes without using brand names.

Reference Standard: Incorporates recognized industry standards (e.g., ASTM C90 for concrete masonry units).
