  Considering the motor was factory rated at 130HP brand new you are doing pretty good. To take a 40 year old junkyard motor and have it make full HP is impressive. Even more impressive is picking up 50 HP from a timing adjustment.

  Those 318s were a great little v8 ... my boss at my high school job had one in her big old 1970 Fury 4 door.  She had 200K miles on it - ran like a top.  She let me use it all the time .... good gas mileage for road trip car too.  Good episode.

  I'm 67 and have driven and "rodded"many 318 engines. I'm glad you're finally doing one of these.

  Excited for this build! My first ride was a 77 Power Wagon with a HOT 318, and 36 inch tires. Lots of memories working on that truck, made me a Mopar fan. 👍

  I think this is going to end up in "kick-a$$" mode! I know the cameras don`t do the block justice, but it looked like it is in remarkably good shape! Well done, Gentlemen! Well done! Anxious to see the end result!

  Next up 318 poly. And if you guys ever want to tackle some non-American (GASP) LS killers, check out the 1-3 UZFE Lexus/Toyota V8 and the Mercedes M100 (if you can get a hold of one). The Toyota engine is super light, has 6 bolt crossbolted mains, forged crank, forged rods, hypereutectic pistons, DOHC and the early one was all aluminum.. they've been around since 1989. The Mercedes on the other hand is SOHC 6.3 or 6.8L *billed as 6.9  cast iron block, aluminum alloy heads, and sodium-filled valves operating against hardened valve seats. As in all Mercedes-Benz automobile engines, the crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons were forged instead of cast. It also came factory with dry sump oiling and at 550lbs they aren't that heavy for what they are.. They also had Bosch mechanical injection from the factory but upgrading that to modern EFI would likely pick up big power.. (let alone what a turbo on it would do)
