Genesis 37-46: How Joseph Saw God's Hand in His Own Betrayal | Bible Study #14

"It was not you who sent me here, but God." Genesis 37–46 is the story everyone knows for its dreams — and the lesson underneath is something else entirely: how a man betrayed, sold, and imprisoned still recognized the will of God at work in his own suffering. This is Study #14 in our walk from Genesis to Revelation. In this Bible study, we follow Joseph's two dreams and his brothers' resentment, the pit at Dothan and the sale for twenty shekels of silver, the pause for Judah and Tamar, Potiphar's house and the false accusation, the cupbearer and the baker, Pharaoh's dreams and the seven years of abundance and famine, the silver cup hidden in Benjamin's sack, Judah's plea, and the reunion at last — closing with Jacob's vision at Beersheba and God's promise to go down into Egypt with him. Reading through the Ecumenical Method of Biblical Study — Spirit, Truth, and Love — we explore why the Bible names Israel rather than Jacob as the one who loved Joseph, why Judah replaces Reuben as the brother who leads, why Joseph tested his brothers before revealing himself, and what his forgiveness shows about spiritual maturity. And we arrive at what Christ says in Matthew 6:33: seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and everything else will be added to you. Joseph did exactly that. 🔴 Download the FREE Ecumenical Method of Biblical Study used in this series: ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.squarespace.c... 🙏 Join the Ecumenical Chain of Prayer — add your name and your family's, and we pray together: ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.com/ecumenica... ⭐️ Join our Substack for more reflections and in-depth Bible Studies: ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.substack.com This video is not sponsored. ============================= 📚 Resources Mentioned 📖 Free Ecumenical Bible Study Method ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.squarespace.c... 🎙 Weekly Podcast ➡️ https://open.spotify.com/show/0yiaB8i... ============================= Connect With Us YouTube: ➡️ @nicholasdepaiva Instagram: ➡️ Instagram: nicholasdepaiva TikTok: ➡️ TikTok: nicholas.de.paiva ============================= ⏰ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro & Overview: Genesis 37–46 01:13 Pause to Pray: The Ecumenical Prayer of Jesus 03:23 Joseph the Dreamer: Two Dreams and a Divided Family 07:17 Sold for Twenty Shekels: The Lawlessness of the Brothers 10:49 Egypt: Potiphar's House, Prison, and Pharaoh's Dreams 14:02 The Silver Cup, Judah's Plea, and Joseph's Spiritual Maturity 22:15 The Second Dream Fulfilled and God's Word to Jacob ============================= ⚡️ Ways to Support This Ministry 📩 Join the Email List ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.substack.com 📖 Download the Free Ecumenical Bible Study Method ➡️ https://nicholasdepaiva.squarespace.c... 🎙 Listen to the Weekly Podcast ➡️ https://open.spotify.com/show/0yiaB8i... #Genesis37 #Joseph #BibleStudy #GodsWill #Bible #Genesis #Scripture #Faith #Egypt #forgiveness In this study of Genesis 37–46, we follow Joseph from his father's house to the pit, from Potiphar's house to prison, and from prison to authority over all Egypt. Through the Ecumenical Method's three layers — Spirit, Truth, and Love — we reflect on submission to the will of God in the middle of suffering, and on the spiritual maturity that made forgiveness possible.
