I still maintain, even as a Chelsea fan that he's the best Premier league midfielder I've ever seen

Gerard never had the quality around him Scholes and Lamps did. He was by far the best.

I hope Stevie can forgive himself for "the Chelsea moment". Leagues are won and lost throughout the whole season, not on a single moment or mistake.

Every club needs a player with the focus and devotion of a Steven Gerrard; the man was a 'cigarette paper's thickness' behind Zidane, THAT is how highly I rate him

Almost single handedly ruined my childhood as and Everton fan😂 by far the best midfielder the premier league has ever seen

Scholes always strikes me as being more realistic and down to earth than the likes of Gary the prat and Rio the sycophant.

Fan of Liverpool since 2000 and a four year old. Stevie was a constant hero in dark times. Gem of a player, a genius on the pitch

Anyone watching after Suarez goal in the club World Cup? Rolling back the years and absolute “bobble merchant” as Gerrard perfectly summed up. He just had everything, including that playground bully dribble like mentality to just barrage his way through world class defenders, and either foot finish.

Oh his day, Stevie was the best footballer on the planet. He could have strolled into almost any starting XI in Europe in his prime.
