  &quot;The Princess Bride&quot; was a 1973 book by William Goldman. &nbsp;He also wrote the &quot;screenplay&quot; for the film and was on set for some of the filming.

  Writer/Screenplay Writer William Goldman had two young daughters many years ago, and one day he asked them what kind of story did they want to hear. &nbsp;One said &quot;A Princess&quot;, the other said &quot;A Bride&quot;. &nbsp;So he combined them into one. &nbsp;It took him and Rob Reiner (RIP) over 20 years to bring the story to the screen. &nbsp;Worth the wait I&apos;d say.

  Fezzik was played by Andre Roussimoff known as Andre the Giant. He was a well known wrestler for decades but his giantism also was crippling him and by the time this movie was made he had a very bad back and had a lot of pain. He said this movie was the most favourite thing he ever did because everyone treated him like a regular guy instead of like some sort of circus freak.

  The part of Fezzik was played by Andre Roussimof (RIP), aka Andre The Giant, a very famous Professional Wrestler from France. &nbsp;Miracle Max was played by Billy Crystal, a famous Comedian/Actor. &nbsp;Count Rugen, the Six Fingered Man was played by Christopher Guest, who played Nigel Tuffnel in the movie &quot;This Is Spinal Tap&quot;, also Directed by Rob Reiner, about a fictional Rock and Roll Band. Buttercup was played by Robin Wright, in her Major Movie debut, a very good performance.
