Through experience, I've found that the best way not to die on K2 is to not climb K2.

It's disgusting how much they charge to climb Everest, then how little they pay the Sherpas. The Sherpas should be making thousands per climb!

Contracts should say that if a climber ignores the turnaround time or chooses to climb without oxygen, a rescue attempt isn't guaranteed. Sherpas and other customers should not have to risk their lives to save people who don't take appropriate measures to guard their safety.

I spent a few months teaching English in Pakistan years ago. At the end I took a trip up to the mountains. Amazing place. I went up the valley that leads to K2. I went on an overnight hike around there. We reached our camp and they said we can go a little further around some corner but I'd have to wear crampons (I never have) and i MIGHT see K2. I looked at the fairly steep drop and decided the possible view was not worth dying for. Too many stories about these poorly trained people doing something stupid. Even many pros die in the mountains. Nope.

If I went there I would just go to that pretty valley and stay at a lodge. Leave the climbing to others.

No, I've made my mind up. I won't be climbing either Everest or K2 this year. Or ever. I'm quite comfortable watching your video in my lounge at a cosy 24 deg C. I can make my cup of tea at anytime, or have a cold beer. The oxygen is a healthy 21% at this level and there's no chance of an avalanche. So thank you for posting! A great video.
