The shoehorn helps the shoe to keep the shoes in good shape.

It's typical for some Americans that they see the cashier as a lower-status person, almost as if they consider them their slave. But of course they can stand in the same place for 8 hours a day, then we'll see how many years they could do it before their backs give out. Many countries in Europe care about their employees and make sure they are well. There are laws about that, but in the US, employees are seen as consumables. Slavery still exists in the US.

I swear by my IKEA shoehorn, even though I'm a Finn. Yes, it protects my shoes, but it mainly protects my fingers. Especially in the winter with dry hands I often get broken skin when I use my fingers between the shoe and heel when puttng on shoes. Even if the skin doesn't break, it can still hurt. The shoehorn helps me to get my shoes on more smoothly but I still have to bend down to tie my shoes, so it's not about saving my back at all.

He hasn’t got the slightest idea what shoehorns are for.
They were invented to protect your expensive shoes from getting misshapen when you push the heel down.
Much later, long shoehorns came along, which older people and others with bunions, back problems, etc. found made things easier for them.

I live in the middle part of Northern Sweden. Where I live the daylight is between 09:46 - 13:38 on Dec 21. And I mean daylight, not sun, because it's often cloudy or snowing. But in the farthers places in the North, the sun does not show itself at all.

I've used a shoehorn since I was a child, it's not about being old, it's about not destroying the heel of the shoe as you will inevitably do if you use your hand.

I have shoes that has lasted me for decades.

Shoehorns are there to prevent shoes from getting ruined!
All companies have to provide parental leave. It's the law. The only thing is that you have to give them enough notice so they can find a replacement. And when you come back, you have to have the same job or something similar.
In northern Sweden there is even less sunlight. Maybe around an hour. And in the summer it is the opposite. Then it never gets completely dark.

About lunch. Yes as a dinner plate, at least. Because on lunchbuff’es, you can take as much as you want. And bread, butter and salad is included.

We live in southern middle Sweden, we had about -10ish to -15ish during winter. Record low here was -25ish. Now (late March) we have 0-15 degrees.

I still bike to work in -30C. Yes the cold bites but with decent clothes it's not a problem.
On mid summer it's sun all day and a little bit dim between 11pm and 3am. In northern Sweden we have midnight sun, the sun never goes down at all.
